Section I: Psychotropic Medications in Children

Dr. Jim Greer, a Board Certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with over twenty-seven years of experience working with vulnerable children and families will present an overview of current psychotropic medications used with children, their indications for use, as well as the risks and potential side affects associated with use.
Section II: Children Who Act Out Their Pain: Sexual Behavior Problems

Lynn Sanford will be presenting on children who act out sexually can present a challenging and complex diagnostic picture. This workshop will present a continuum of sexual problematic behavior problems in children and contrast categories of sexual behavior problems to what would be developmentally usual and expected. Implications for placement and treatment planning will be discussed for impulsive, attachment disordered, neurologically-based, compulsive and exploitive sexual behaviors. We will focus on children in alternative care such as foster care, special school settings, residential treatment centers and inpatient hospitals. Participants are encouraged to bring examples from their clinical practice.
